Health Care Reform and You: Children Can Stay on Parents' Plan Until Age 26

Senator A helped pass health care reform two years ago. A lot of people do not know about all of the great things this law does.

One is the way it guarantees children the right to stay on their parents' health care plans until age 26. Children could graduate college and be kicked off their parents' plans prior to the reform. Finding work immediately after college can be difficult. Recent graduates have enough to deal with. They should not have to worry about the risks of not having health insurance. The reform mandates these recent grads are entitled to care. Now you do not have to worry about your child getting a serious illness and having to deal with the high costs of having no coverage.

This is just one of the reasons Senator A fought for the law. We will continue to examine the law over the next few days.

Senator A Can Help Constituents With Service Academy Nominations

Every Senator can nominate candidates to each of the following military academies: U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, the US Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Senators do not nominate candidates to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. These nominations are handled by the academy itself.

If you’re interested in applying to be nominated to one of these academies in the Fall 2011, you must complete and send the following materials before 5:00 PM on Monday October 3, 2011.

  • Printed copy of your application (academy form)
  • Picture (preferably 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" )
  • Your highest SAT/ACT Score: SAT Code 2390, ACT Code 7160
  • Official high school and/or college transcript. GED if applicable
  • Three letters of recommendation

Prior to submission of your completed application please contact my Newark office at 973-645-3030.

Please send all these materials with the completed application, in a single envelope, to the following address:

Senator A's Office

All material must be in one package.

If you have questions regarding the status of your application, you can contact our department of academy nominations in Senator A's office.

We also encourage you to request an application directly from the military school of your interest. These application materials will provide you with more information on admission requirements, answers to frequently asked questions, and a questionnaire for potential candidates.
